SON Standards Library was established by enabling Act 56 of 1971. The
library has the responsibility to assemble and maintain a collection of
standards, normative documents, books and other relevant materials it
considers appropriate and relevant for a standards library
Mission Statement
SON library mission is to provide a virile, flexible modern facilities
and services that enhances the development of Nigeria national standards

To create an enabling environment that provide for reading and research
on standards and quality and assurance activities to standard/technical
Officers and other stakeholders that positively impacted on the overall
national standardization process
Objectives
SON library objectives are to:

Provide
library facilities that ensure appropriate reading and research
environment for elaboration of standards and related document.

Facilitates and make available current local, foreign and international
standards to all stakeholders, that ensure elaboration and development
of national standards;

Generate
fund through sale of SON publication and other international documents
to complement government funding and strengthen standards process in the
country for local and international competitive trade;

Provide
effective and efficient library services to clientele to meet needs on
standards development to meet expectation;

Motivate
library staff to deliver service promptly and efficiently for enhanced
productivity;

Provide
relevant document for codex contact point and WTO/FAO references;

Liaison
with other standards bodies and international agencies for enhancing
development of national and international standards;
